A free directory of businesses in Townsville, from the city centre to Kirwan, Deeragun and Magnetic Island. As of October 2026 it lists 3,836 businesses in 322 categories across 66 suburbs.
North Queensland's biggest city reached 206,260 people at June 2025, up 16,249 in 10 years (ABS Regional population 2024-25), and is projected to add another 23,000-plus residents in the coming years (Queensland Government projections, 2025 edition). The Regional Movers Index named Townsville an emerging hot spot attracting city dwellers in its March 2026 report (Regional Australia Institute, June 2026).
The money is already committed: $700 million at RAAF Base Townsville for the Apache helicopter fleet, finishing by 2028; stage 1 of the Townsville University Hospital expansion, at least 165 new beds with a bigger emergency department; and $2.4 billion from the state for CopperString 2032, the power line west from Townsville (Department of Defence, 2025; Queensland Government, 2025).
Defence postings, the hospital and the university bring people who, once they arrive and settle in, need a GP, a mechanic, a hairdresser and a gym, and have no local to ask. This guide is built for them and for the business owners who want to be found.
Townsville City Council is the boundary: the city and The Strand, the big suburbs of Kirwan, Aitkenvale, Thuringowa and Annandale, the northern beaches to Deeragun and Bushland Beach, and Magnetic Island, part of the city and a ferry ride from the Breakwater. Palm Island and Orpheus Island belong to other councils and are not listed.
The Burdekin, Charters Towers and Hinchinbrook are not included, but may be included in future local guide releases.
The health industry is a growing sector here: 1,546 health care businesses at June 2025, second only to construction at 2,528, with property and rentals third at 1,430 (ABS Counts of Australian Businesses, June 2025). That is the hospital, the university and the garrison showing in the business mix. 13,122 businesses in all.
From a Kirwan physio to a Horseshoe Bay cafe on Magnetic Island, every listed website and business is scanned again every 24 hours. We won't remove a listing for a website that loads slowly, blocks automated visitors or times out. A listing is removed when the business is confirmed as no longer operating, or when its owner tells us.
Tradespeople show the QBCC licence we matched to the state register. Claimed pages go first. No business pays for its place.
New to Townsville will help you from the moment you unpack and get settled: a GP, a car rental, a personal trainer, suburb by suburb and out to the island.
Marlowe Bennett runs this guide. He founded Coastworks AI, a Queensland consultancy that builds websites, email marketing and AI automations for small businesses, after 30 years in service businesses, and he pays for the guide and runs the system behind it.
That system scans every listed website each day; anything it cannot verify itself waits for Marlowe and his team to check. Nothing on a listing is influenced by Coastworks AI. Questions about a listing go to [email protected] or 0495 039 007.
Which listings are offered to Google, and how a listing is added, checked, claimed, fixed or removed: how this guide is built. The same guide runs in other regions, built the same way: all the local business guides. Business owners can also ask for a free Growth and Automation Audit of their own website.
The same daily-checked guide runs in other regions, built the same way by Coastworks AI.
